At Beacon Hill Garage it’s not all about classic car restoration and race preparation; our workshop is fully equipped to carry out a full range of mechanical repairs, including MOT testing. You’re welcome to watch the MOT test being carried out on your vehicle from our customer viewing area and of course, we will provide you with a quote and can carry out any repairs that may be required to ensure that your car passes. We’re also happy to provide MOT reminders a month before your test is due.

If your classic car was built or registered more than 40 years ago and has had no substantial changes such as a new chassis or engine in the last 30 years, you can apply for a vehicle tax exemption, putting your car into the ‘historic tax class’, meaning you are not required to take it for an MOT. That said, your vehicle must be roadworthy, and an MOT is an excellent way to make all the necessary checks and provide yourself (and your passengers) with peace of mind.

We have a team of approved MOT testers who carry out a series of checks on your vehicle, looking inside, outside, under the bonnet and underneath the vehicle. If your vehicle passes all the checks, we can issue a pass certificate, there may also be “advisory” items which means that you need to keep an eye on them. Unfortunately, not all vehicles pass the MOT test, but thankfully, we can carry out any repairs that are required and then retest your vehicle, and get you safely back on the road.
